#83 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants of 2016
Visited: September 3rd, 2016 – Dinner Service
The dining experience at Manresa was about highlighting the purity of the best seasonal ingredients that they grow in their own garden. The beautiful vegetables served at Manresa possessed an intensity of fresh flavours. It was very reminiscent of the vegetables I have eaten in Europe and also restaurants such as Noma and The Restaurant at Meadowood, where the vegetables easily stole the show.
For my 30th birthday gift, my sweet husband took me to this restaurant. We flew to San Francisco, drove to San Jose where our hotel was, and used Uber to get us to this restaurant located in the heart of Los Gatos, California.
Apéritif and Amuse-Bouche Series
Our experience at Manresa was lovely. I was very impressed by the quality and taste of the of the vegetables and herbs they used in every dish. Manresa prides itself in growing their own vegetables in their garden, which exemplifies “farm to table” and “self-sustainability” concepts.
There were many stand-out dishes of the night and the food spoke for themselves. The service was friendly and attentive, however it was not exceptional compared to the other restaurants of this caliber. Service aside, beverage pairings were spot on. One of my favourite pairings was “Into the Garden” course paired with “Mercy, Mercy”, an Ale that was specially crafted for this particular dish.
Manresa is definitely putting California fine dining food scene on the map.
